PRAISE FOR HAZEL’S GUITAR AND PIANO LESSONS
Helen (retired)
“I first met Hazel about 18 months ago whilst living in Orkney. I undertook an internet search for a piano teacher. Recently retired, I was determined to fulfil a life -long ambition to learn to play piano. Hazel responded, and within a week, during lockdown, we started lessons on-line. I was full of trepidation, and had no confidence, but Hazel consistently demonstrated patience, insight, and humour. We have built a trusting relationship, so important to the pupil teacher dyad, especially as an adult learner. Each lesson she nudges me forward, always with constructive and encouraging feedback. She is a marvellous teacher, and her love of music permeates our weekly sessions. I am indebted to her.”
Lola (age 13 )
“I love learning with Hazel because ever since I’ve started my lessons with her, she has understood and picked up on the way I prefer learning things, and how I learn things best. I’ve been having lessons with Hazel for a couple of years now, and learnt loads, but as much as Hazel has taught me, she has always made me laugh and smile!”
Matthew (age 11)
“I have been learning piano with Hazel for 6 years now and she makes learning so fun. We do a mix of Hazels songs, and songs I want to learn even when they are a bit different. We have a laugh and Hazel always has an interesting story to tell. She helps me understand how to be a better player.”
Emma (age12) and Louise (age 15)
“The lessons are great because Hazel makes them fun, gives really clear instructions and always listen to what we think about the music.”
Finlay (age 10)
“I just love it – hazel is fun, hazel is nice – the cat is nice. The highlight is the cat!”
Caity (age 18)
“I love learning from Hazel because she gives me self confidence in my guitar playing.”
Evelyn (age 13)
“Hazel is amazing and I have learned a lot from her.
She shown me that not all talent are always visible – musicians have hidden talents.”
Eleanor (age 16)
“Hazel is a wonderful teacher that manages to incorporate knowledge and friendship into her lessons. Her lessons are always something to look forward to and you’ll always come away with from them with a smile.”
Lisa Bady (age 15) ( her cat is also pretty cool)
“I really enjoy piano lessons with Hazel. I feel that I’ve learned a lot about piano with her. She definitely knows a lot about everything, so we often have really interesting conversations as well.”
Julie
“Hazel is a wonderful person and teacher. I came to her as a nervous deaf and visually impaired beginner, and she has encouraged me to explore what I can do and to push out of my comfort zone. We work on classical, folk, and modern pop, using sheet music or playing by ear. She is supportive and works to make piano accessible to me. I’m playing piano in a way that I never thought I could.”
